True Love Will Find You in the End ...

Don’t be sad, I know you will,
But don’t give up until
True love finds you in the end...

...Let me show you the world in my eyes

What Depeche Mode did with music is unmeasurable, they brought dynamics, new language, new instruments ..

They made a new dress for the classic song format ..

Music has to be reinvented constantly ...

Because that's what Art is for..

This is anyway more than 20 years old ...

Still some may find it too modern..

You know that a man ain't supposed to cry ...

I think John Fogerty was one of the greatest singer of the 70's...

I remember when I first listened to this tune in a very old video ... I was surprised with the falsetto singing.. never heard it before on hard rock blues songs..

Then I learned the song was a cover from a soul song from the MOTOWN..

but I really believe that CCR revision of it is supreme, a real rocker with feeling... 10 minutes jam with that classic dirty guitar sound soloing.. Gibson through Marshall..

The picture says it all about their genuineness.. that untidy natural look... in contrast with guys today that look like rock star and can't play a note on a guitar..

It's 20 seconds 'til the last call ...

For my birthday me and my mates we went to Berlin to see Phoenix playing live..

We had the greatest time ..

Three of them lost the flight back, but was so fun afterwards...

The gig was amazing, was the last of the tour ...

and the last song they played was 1901 ...

which maybe is the best song of 2009...

...I could be there when you land

There are still great pop songs waiting to be written..

And Franz Ferdinand can give a good example with this great song..

It's like a modern day Eleanor Rigby...

if her life wouldn't have been so sad..

she could have gone traveling the world with her boots..

As it happens in NY in this song.

Life is meant to be more than this..

Such raw and rough lyrics on Lou Reed's Berlin...

Particularly on Caroline Says II

The chronic of a broken girl ..

It appeared on his album Berlin from 1973, which is something like a Wim Wenders film on a rock record...

A great pleasure to let yourself drift away with it..

.. been caught stealing when I was five

I wish there were more bands like Jane's Addiction..

so fresh, original and daring...

from their record covers to their lyrics,
from the clothes to the song titles..

Here comes the best song to start the weekend..

... And what you give is what you get

Well... Paul Weller took Taxman and made a new song called Start!

Easy as that...

no plagiarism, no stealing, no copying.. nothing of that..

This song anyway is borrowed standard from 50's soul music..

It's a funny thing when you met someone, you get really well with, but you know you'll never see again..
It doesn't matter if we never meet again,
What we have said will always remain.

And I think it's gonna be a long long time ...

I first heard this song on the radio back when I was working in London..

They played it on BBC Radio 2, I still remember...

I was working on a sandwich place.. getting bored ..

Stopped what I was doing... and stood there listening as if I was hypnotized..

specially when the band gets along with him in and he goes ...
And I think it's gonna be a long long time
Till touch down brings me round again to find
I'm not the man they think I am at home
Oh no no no I'm a rocket man ..
And for that 4 minutes I was very very far away from there ..

I read the news today, oh boy ...

About a lucky man who made the grade...

....It's better to burn out than to fade away

As a unexpected surprise, I found myself drowned today on Neil Young's "My My, Hey Hey" ..

which is a sad song..

but I know I prefer to be sad than to not feel anything at all ...

... Winos throwing frisbees at the sun

Beck is such a cool guy..

He appeared in the middle of grunge era.. early 90's..

And he came with this easy going vibe of whitey boy rapping ...

I was searching some cool bass lines and remembered this tune, Beercan.. lyrics a bit non-sense and silly but, hey, music is supposed to be fun ...

Because if it's not fun you are not doing it right !!

Life's a gas..

The video is from a show hosted by Marc Bolan back in 1977 called Marc, which would have been some kind of amazing thing to see !!

He was interviewing artists and different bands were playing.. as Hawkwind, The BoomTown Rats, Thin Lizzy...

The last show, Bowie was the guest.. and sang Heroes

...towards the end they played a jam .. Funnily Bolan felt on the floor and both started laughing..

It was recorded on 7 September 1977...

Marc Bolan died just a week after ...

Life's a gas
I hope it's gonna last ..

She comes in colors everywhere ...

If the whole 60's had to be defined in one song.. this one could be a real potential choice..

It brings the naivety and joy of that magical decade and particularly the year of 1967.. when the summer of love happened..

I can imagine how they got inspired.. watching the girls dressed on that psychedelic fashion, colorful clothes, flowers on their hair.. hippie stuff..

I love the "non-blues-based" Stones songs, as Ruby Tuesday, Dandelion, The Lantern or She's a Rainbow.

... pick up my guitar and play !

Just like yesterday...

and I get on my knees and pray

We don't get fooled again !!
What a guy Pete Townshend, such a character..

I think unique in the whole history of Rock Music...

Over his shoulders lies, almost, the whole Who's body of work ...

He had Keith Moon, John Entwistle and Roger Daltrey, with him... but he was able to write so many great tunes on his own..

"Who's next" is a kick in the face.. starting from the cover photo ... until the last track "Won't Get Fooled Again"..

I have this feeling over politics now.. but "the Who" sang it almost 40 years ago...

....Come on, mood shift, shift back to good again

Don't remember how I started listening to Of Montreal..

But I love them, love their lyrics..

particularly, this song is so funny, the mood shift concept... Would be so good if there was such thing.. So you could just shift to good every time..

What I don't like about Of Montreal ?

They are not coming to Barcelona in their tour.
