I need an easy friend ...

Apparently Kurt Cobain wrote this song after a marathon day of listening to Meet the Beatles ! ..

Well.. I guess that listening to the Beatles for the whole day won't necessarily allow you to write a classic such as this..

But still, the formula is easy, four chords and a story to tell..

When they rehearsed it, Chad Channing , Nirvana's 1st drummer, asked him which was the name of the song..

He replied "It's about a girl.."

Best comment in youtube
"my brother said nirvana sucked, i slapped him. "

... easy like Sunday Morning

My favorite band member from Faith No More is Jim Martin..

the only guitar player I have seen who looked like out from a Freak Brothers comic book...

So bad they sacked him.. after that, FNM didn't get my interest at all, even he didn't contribute too much on his last record with them...

They were so original...

Which other alternative band would dare covering a Leonard Ritchie song ??

The single cover is also great... showing the love of a pair of rhinos on the African sunset ...

don't worry it's just a personality crisis...

Would there have been Ramones, Sex Pistols, Mötley Crüe or Guns'n Roses if these 5 guys hadn't been around a few years later ?

They gave so much influence they don't even want to recognize..

They had the nerve of putting a show on and backstage that was unseen before

the spirit of real punk rock..

get your guitars and make a disgrace..

You say the hill's too steep to climb,..

This song from Pink Floyd appeared on their record Meddle, which probably may be the least known album of theirs..

Pink Floyd is known for bringing madness, isolation and obsessions in their lyrics of their most remembered records ...

In fact the band's history couldn't be explained without certain episodes of erratic behavior by their two main lyricists... Syd Barret and Roger Waters

Surprisingly they are one of the biggest record sellers ever..

But there was a time where they were writing relaxing and conciliating tunes like this one..

I see concept of climbing, as a metaphor, is very illustrative in a lot of personal situations...

At the the end You'll Never Walk Alone is heard, sung by a crowd...

Which also is a great song about getting up and feel supported.

...And I wonder why I still live on

This is ironic...

I made up my mind about posting some good positive song to change my mood ...

And thought,"- Hey Queen is such a cheerful and positive band ..."

but end up picking All Dead, All Dead, from News of the World...

Probably a song that not many people stopped and listened to...

That title caught my eye since day one..

And it's definitely not an encouraging one..

Brian May wrote it..

And for me is referring to the lost of the childhood...

The time when one realizes about those dreams once one had..

I've been waiting for a guide to come and take me by the hand ...

Joy Division took rock music to a higher artistic level ...

Punk helped teaching the public to avoid all the rock star debauchery and bigger-than-life attitude...

Luckily these new breed of artist came, like Ian Curtis... real people who talked on their lyrics about isolation, angst, solitude, death.. and so, thousands of ears found in them the, always desired, identification..

Ian Curtis decided to pass away at 23.. and became a legend
Me.. I don't agree too much with suicide.. but I guess this shows that he was not pretending ...

Music as an expression field should not always be an entertainment..

Joy Division
is one of these exceptions..

I've been waiting for a guide to come and take me by the hand,
Could these sensations make me feel the pleasures of a normal man?
These sensations barely interest me for another day,
I've got the spirit, lose the feeling, take the shock away.

It's getting faster, moving faster now, it's getting out of hand,
On the tenth floor, down the back stairs, it's a no man's land,
Lights are flashing, cars are crashing, getting frequent now,
I've got the spirit, lose the feeling, let it out somehow.

What means to you, what means to me, and we will meet again,
I'm watching you, I'm watching her, I'll take no pity from you friends,
Who is right, who can tell, and who gives a damn right now,
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know,
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know,
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know,
I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling,
I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling,
Feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling...

....all is quiet in New Year's Day

I bought WAR from U2 as a birthday present to myself long ago ..

..and went mad with the bass riff in New Year's Day ..

I haven't listened to it in a really long time..

But it sounds as good as then..

Maybe better than most of the over produced music made today.. (U2 latest releases included)

Because is either that or low-fi..

so bad guitars don't sound this way anymore.. ;(

She told me to come but I was already there ...

So I was 15 years old..

went to a record shop..

saw an all black album cover with AC/DC in embossed letters ...

and thought - This must be a good one..

I really couldn't recall how many times I have listened to it..

And all the hours I spent doing it .... weren't wasted.. !!!

When the train left the station ...

It had two lights on behind
Yeah, when the train left the station
It had two lights on behind
Whoa, the blue light was my baby
And the red light was my mind

We were talking with my band mates about Robert Johnson.. and all the legend that throws shadow over his name..

I think I first heard about him on the crossroads story about selling his soul..

Once when I first had Let It Bleed on my stereo I got hooked on Love In Vain... And was highly surprised that wasn't a Stones original... Then I realized what a great writer Robert Johnson was ..

Somebody gotta save my soul !!

Who doesn't need a little kick in the ass from time to time ?

I've spending all my money in the old town...

It's not the same honey
When you're not around

Wow.. what a surprise is Dublin for a music lover..

I went to concerts every single night of the week, from traditional Irish to punk rock.. really..

Apart the vibe is great...

Saw the Rory Gallagher street with his old stratocaster hanging on the wall...
Though even I know Phil Lynott statue is somewhere around, I couldn't find it...

Anyway I am posting one of the songs of him that I most like.. which is related to this dirty old city.. and a little boy crackin' up ..

... it was just that the time was wrong

They are probably the least cool band in the world..

But these lyrics on Romeo And Juliet are so well written and so bittersweet.. that I listened to them and can see their faces and everything in between

Mark Knopfler was playing live in Barcelona a few weeks ago.. and I went straight to this song.. cause I always loved it.

...And I remember she used to fall down a lot

That girl was always falling
Again and again
And I used to sometimes try to catch her
But I never even caught her name

This song was a surprise..

Because I've been a Cure devoted fan since I was in high school..

but somehow this song slip through the rest and never heard it until this year..

Don't miss it..
