Once I lived the life of a millionaire ...

Clapton is a discussed guitar player... people loves him and people hates him..

I was never into him until the evidence got me closer to listen ..

1st - When I read he was the one who put a Gibson Les Paul through a Marshall and recorded an album.. Check the Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, just listen to Hideaway.. that was the guitar sound used for the next 10 years.. and it was recorded in 1966..

2nd - When he left the Yardbirds because they wanted to play pop music..

3rd -When he recorded the solo for "While my guitar gently weeps"..

4th - When he wrote "Layla" cause he was in love with Patty Boyd and couldn't do anything 'cause she was his best friend's wife.. George Harrison..

the list keeps on growing...

The last time random took me to him was when I went to Sin-e in Dublin last summer and there was this guy playing songs... he had a great voice and was a good player... He sang "Nobody knows you when you are down and out" .. I had never heard it before.. (don't know how could I..) when I went back home in Barcelona I looked for it and saw that the cover was coming from Clapton's version in "Layla and other assorted Love songs"..

With the collaboration of the great late Duane Allman..

The original from Jimmy Cox and the first know version by Bessie Smith.

Love him or hate him... now listen here and look in the eyes and try saying "he's not that good"

Nobody helps a liar ...

Having a conversation yesterday about new American folk female singers.. I couldn't help remembering Jenny Lewis..

There are so many great songs in this record.. which I heard a hundred times..

There is something in the way she rises her voice on the chorus and how the backing vocals sing along with her that gets me goosebumps.

One of the play list I listen a lot is the one she did for Rolling Stone Mag...

Great selection of early 70's folk singers.

‎... but she breaks just like a little girl

Dylan's ode to all women in the world.

The song one can obviously link to who we are in love with..

To a girl who surprises us with her smile in the nighttime singing love songs to our ears while we hold hands...

A girl who makes drawings of women going to the beach and brings Japanese soup to dinner..

party party party !!

This is another song from the Seihos

The video is great, an homage to Cake's "Short Skirt Long Jacket"..

The best of it is that shows how is life daily in Barcelona, the tourists, the people chilling in any square or by the shadow of a cathedral..

Is a great city to live in..

Some people say the song is good, some say they don't like it at all.. but overall is such a laugh. you see people is great, different and similar everywhere ..

Best comment
"You can win a lot of money with publicity with this song.."

Spanish bombs.. yo te quiero infinito.. !!

The Clash payed a great homage to the victims of the terrible Spanish Civil War...

and The Clash were not a demagogic band ..

Joe Strummer was trying to bring into attention some injustices of the past and the present..

They were the only ones who ever talked about this terrible episode..

The lyrics remember Federico Garcia Lorca, the late poet shot and killed by Nationalist militia on 19 August 1936.

World War II would began shortly after...

George Orwell who participated in the war as a volunteer would write "Homage to Catalonia" which is another book I yet have to read...

Paco de Lucia - Percusion Flamenca

"Unos me dicen que si y otros que no... y yo le he preguntado a grandes musicos si debo aprender musica.. y me han dicho que no.. no es necesario"

"Some say yes and some say no, ... and I have asked great musicians if I should learn music .. they have said, no .. it is not necessary"

Paco de Lucia
Sure it's not necessary to learn music if you are such gifted and incredibly talented musician... otherwise..

losing love is like a window in your heart...

Everybody sees you're blown apart,
Everybody sees the wind blow,
Starting 2011 with a guitar in my hands.. singing Graceland..
Lots of meanings in this song.. love the way Paul Simon talks about his personal daemons with such tranquility..

The music in this record is among the greatest recorded in the 80's...

The South African musicians he worked with are simply superb...

Giving credit to them..

Ray Phiri on guitar
Bakithi Kumalo on bass
Vusi Khumalo on drums
Makhaya Mahlangu on percussion

.. and Simon's own childhood heroes ... the Everly Brothers providing backing vocals...

Going to Graceland is a metaphor .. a metaphor for the old belief that maybe taking one chance will suddenly give some sort of reason to life..

The Mississippi delta was shining like a national guitar
I am following the river down the highway through the cradle of the civil war

I'm going to Graceland, Graceland
Memphis, Tennessee
I'm going to Graceland
poor boys and pilgrims and families
we are all going to Graceland..

My traveling companion is nine years old
He's the child of my first marriage

But I got a reason to believe we all will be received in Graceland

She comes back to tell me she's gone
As If I didn't know that
As If I didn't know my own bed..
As If I never notice the way she brush her head from her forehead,.

She said losing love is like a window in your heart
Everybody sees your blown apart
Everybody sees the wind blow..

I'm going to Graceland
Memphis, Tennessee
I'm going to Graceland
Poor boys and pilgrims and families
we all are going to Graceland..

My traveling companions
are ghosts and empty sockets..
I am looking at ghosts and empties
But I got a reason to believe we all will be received in Graceland

There's a girl in New York City
She calls herself the human trampoline
sometimes when I am falling flying, tumbling in turmoil
I say wow so this is what she means
She means we are bouncing into Graceland

And I see losing love is like a window in your heart
Everybody sees your blown apart
Everybody feels the wind blow..

in Graceland, in Graceland..
For reasons I cannot explain there's some a part of me that want s see Graceland.

And I maybe am blind to defend every love every ending or maybe there's no obligations now..
Maybe I have a reason to believe we all will be received in Graceland..

In Graceland.. In Graceland..
