... Well New York City really has it all
14 years old...
First concert I ever went ..
Me and my brother..
Joey shouting 1, 2, 3 ,4
Me, falling to the floor..
Chris lifting me up..
Some years later I went to CBGB's in NY.. the venue is not there anymore..
but I was thrilled by the atmosphere... the walls are the same that saw the Ramones play their very first gig..
They were too tough to die..

...you put a gun in my hands
and you hide from my eyes...
When I first listened to this song the last verse struck me so hard..
Still today makes me shiver..
And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead.
It's not about violence or revenge, it's about rage..
A feeling written in lines and played on an acoustic guitar..

Green Eyes
That's a drawing I did some time ago on one of the terribly boring days at work.. Then it turned out to be almost a creative day.
The song below is from Coldplay, which even I am not a huge fan, think this tune is perfect when you are in love, because it's sweet and quiet...
And it goes... "Honey you are a rock upon which I stay ..."

Dreams You Don't Dream Are Not Dreams
dreams come true ... dreams come true ...
all of us have made our dreams come true
even you ...
they were just around the corner of the street you walked
they were in the words of the things you said
they appeared on the drawers that you dared to open
they were lying on the bed this morning when you left
on the first page of the novel we wrote
on the last word of the song we sung
on the sketches of the portrait you did for me
dreams were the first thing we saw this morning
the last thing we saw yesterday night
there they were .. when we looked at the mirror
and when we closed the lights
dreams are real, as real as dreams
your dreams are yours .............. but they are mine
they were looking at you from the keyhole
they were thinking what you're going to think next
they were waiting for you to dream them ...
they were waiting for you to dream them ...
dreams dreams dreams dreams dreams dreams dreams
even sometimes when you fall asleep ...

... pero los queremos
Back in the day I bought "Ritual de lo Habitual" 'cause I couldn't get this song out of my head..
Back then, didn't know what alternative rock was, no idea about indie.. no idea about hype, cool or trendy music..
I just thought that Stop was the best thing I've ever heard so far..
I got the record, went home, played it and this woman comes talking in Spanish on the stereo..
Just couldn't believe it.. ¿?
The original cover was banned in US, so the one on the video below was the replacement..
It only shows The First Amendment to the United States Constitution

Señores y SeñorasAnd then that riff by Dave Navarro, which is one of the most intense I could recall..
nosotros tenemos mas influencia con sus hijos que tu tiene.
pero los queremos..

Yeah, I heard a funny thing..
I discovered Love's Forever Changes not so long ago..
Read their history on Michael Stuart's book.
I had never seen how such talented guys threw their career away this way..
the book is worth reading as a What-not-to-Do list...
Regarding the psychotic excesses, they did the same as any other 60's band.
Regarding the project, they just did a minor effort for keep it alive..
How come Bryan McLean wrote Alone Again Or, and then he vanishes ?
Why Arthur Lee needed 30 years to get back in the road?
What about the guitar work of Johnny Echols , where is he hidden ?
Such a pity because Forever Changes had become after 40 years a must in any All-Times-Best-Albums list you can check...

I wouldn't worry about me ...
The lyrics on the first Talking Heads record where something not heard before..
They appeared with this punk funk they invented, on their debut 77
Don't know why but just love it..
Whenever this song starts, can't stop it.. got to follow it to the end and sing along..
David Byrne just send a message to that false adoration ..

Loved ones, loved ones visit the buildingI guess that Talking Heads did suceed was because nobody could really believe they were singing such things.. after them, this became quite normal.. but obviously wasn't before.. when pop musicians were treated as living gurus who had the right answer to everything..
Take the highway, park and come up and see me
I'll be working, working but if you come visit
I'll put down what I'm doing, my friends are important

Four Faces On The Cover
OK.. This one goes for my book "Unexpected Lists on Rock History"
Some bands are linked through some of the record covers. In this case we have four-member bands which at one point of their careers decide to release a record where the design is simply a four division placing each members face on each quarter.
I haven't done too much investigation , but believe that "Let It Be" may probably be the first one.
I like that record covers, because shows that the band is equally divided by the sum of it's parts.
Number 4 is magic in music.
Here they are.
1) THE BEATLES - LET IT BE
2) FLEETWOOD MAC - THE ORIGINAL
3) VAN HALEN - VAN HALEN
4) TALKING HEADS - REMAIN IN LIGHT
5) MÖTLEY CRÜE - SHOUT AT THE DEVIL
6) GORILLAZ - DEMON DAYS
7) QUEEN - HOT SPACE
8) BLUR - BEST OF
9) U2 - POP
10) KISS - THE VERY BEST OF
11) POISON - LOOK WHAT THE CAT DRAGGED IN
12) PINK FLOYD - IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE ?
