losing love is like a window in your heart...

Everybody sees you're blown apart,
Everybody sees the wind blow,
Starting 2011 with a guitar in my hands.. singing Graceland..
Lots of meanings in this song.. love the way Paul Simon talks about his personal daemons with such tranquility..

The music in this record is among the greatest recorded in the 80's...

The South African musicians he worked with are simply superb...

Giving credit to them..

Ray Phiri on guitar
Bakithi Kumalo on bass
Vusi Khumalo on drums
Makhaya Mahlangu on percussion

.. and Simon's own childhood heroes ... the Everly Brothers providing backing vocals...

Going to Graceland is a metaphor .. a metaphor for the old belief that maybe taking one chance will suddenly give some sort of reason to life..

The Mississippi delta was shining like a national guitar
I am following the river down the highway through the cradle of the civil war

I'm going to Graceland, Graceland
Memphis, Tennessee
I'm going to Graceland
poor boys and pilgrims and families
we are all going to Graceland..

My traveling companion is nine years old
He's the child of my first marriage

But I got a reason to believe we all will be received in Graceland

She comes back to tell me she's gone
As If I didn't know that
As If I didn't know my own bed..
As If I never notice the way she brush her head from her forehead,.

She said losing love is like a window in your heart
Everybody sees your blown apart
Everybody sees the wind blow..

I'm going to Graceland
Memphis, Tennessee
I'm going to Graceland
Poor boys and pilgrims and families
we all are going to Graceland..

My traveling companions
are ghosts and empty sockets..
I am looking at ghosts and empties
But I got a reason to believe we all will be received in Graceland

There's a girl in New York City
She calls herself the human trampoline
sometimes when I am falling flying, tumbling in turmoil
I say wow so this is what she means
She means we are bouncing into Graceland

And I see losing love is like a window in your heart
Everybody sees your blown apart
Everybody feels the wind blow..

in Graceland, in Graceland..
For reasons I cannot explain there's some a part of me that want s see Graceland.

And I maybe am blind to defend every love every ending or maybe there's no obligations now..
Maybe I have a reason to believe we all will be received in Graceland..

In Graceland.. In Graceland..

Centenars De Petites Coses....

Hundreds of small little things...

Another great Catalan band... this time Mine!

Coming from the post-rock and indie scene.. they finally decided to switch from English to Catalan ..

They self released a few records before getting the attention of labels, which allowed them to record professionally.

This tune reminds me of a nice children song, with a great arrange on the backing vocals and a loving Beatles bass line..

tattoo'd lady, pretty baby...

When I was in Dublin this summertime I was surprised by Rory's guitar hanging from a wall in Temple Bar..

I got to know him specially because Fender made a replica of this guitar.. And I think this is the greatest guitar ever.. It's shred and wormed out .. as an instrument should be

Quite expensive, unluckily... but anyway that's just a memorabilia thing...

Though I wish I would have it..

How he made it ?? Ireland back in the 70's was not an easy place to live in.. not even for making it into rock music.. but there he is..

Ride a white mare in the footsteps of dawn ..

Tryin' to find a woman who's never, never, never been born.

Spent my days with a woman unkind,
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going To California with an aching in my heart.
Someone told me there's a girl out there
with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.
Took my chances on a big jet plane, never let them
tell you that they're all the same.
The sea was red and the sky was grey,
wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today.
The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake
as the children of the sun began to awake.

Seems that the wrath of the Gods
Got a punch on the nose and it started to flow;
I think I might be sinking.
Throw me a line if I reach it in time
I'll meet you up there where the path
Runs straight and high.

To find a queen without a king,
They say she plays guitar and cries and sings... la la la
Ride a white mare in the footsteps of dawn
Tryin' to find a woman who's never, never, never been born.
Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams,
Telling myself it's not as hard, hard, hard as it seems.

There is one question I'd really love to ask ...

This pic of Marley and George is just incredible..
How great would have been a jam between the two...

these are the things I can do without...

without what ??
..isn't this sentence left undisclosed ?

With these epic drumbeats, synthesizers all over the place, big hall reverb, massive backing vocals.. OK, that was the 80's..

Can't decide whether this lyrics are the ... you-are-wrong-I-am-right type or else the classical auto criticism.. I'm-actually-talking-to-myself thing

And Tears for Fears, where this band who got a number 1 on the Billboard, back in the day.. which is no trivial thing..

Their name comes from a chapter in Arthur Janov's Primal Scream therapy book.. never read it, even I really wanted to sometime ago..
