... A resonator and the slide on my hands of a lonely wooden house in the prairie...
Running To Stand Still
And so she woke up Woke up from where she was lyin’ still. Said I gotta do something About where we’re goin’. Step on a steam train Step out of the driving rain, maybe Run from the darkness in the night. Singing ah, ah la la la de day Ah la la la de day.
Sweet the sin, bitter the taste in my mouth. I see seven towers, but I only see one way out. You gotta cry without weeping, talk without speaking Scream without raising your voice. You know I took the poison, from the poison stream Then I floated out of here, singing Ah la la la de day Ah la la la de day.
She walks through the streets With her eyes painted red Under black belly of cloud in the rain. In through a doorway She brings me white golden pearls Stolen from the sea. She is ragin’ She is ragin’
And the storm blows up in her eyes. She will suffer the needle chill She’s running to stand still.
Led Zeppelin III is known as their acoustic album..
but the first song is Immigrant Song ...
About Scandinavian mythology and warfare
Maybe the most heavy tune they ever recorded..
(from wikipedia.org) Valhalla is a majestic, enormous hall located in Asgard, ruled over by the God Odin. Chosen by him, half of those that die in combat travel to Valhalla upon death, led by Valkyries, while the other half go to the goddess Freyja's field Fólkvangr.
This is the one where they evoke the Hammer Of The Gods..
That's the title of the infamous biographythat they'd always dismiss..
The film Almost Famous is somehow based on the groupie phenomenon that happened in the first part of the 70's to Led Zeppelin back then..
Director Cameron Crowe himself wrote liner notes for Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains The Same live record, when he was just 17 years old.. He was already working for Rolling Stone since 1972.. enough said..
Who wouldn't want to be part of those days ?
Immigrant Song
A-ah-ahh-ah, ah-ah-ahh-ah We come from the land of the ice and snow from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands To fight the horde and sing and cry, Valhalla, I am coming
On we sweep with, with threshing oar Our only goal will be the western shore
Ah-ah-ahh-ah, ah-ah-ahh-ah We come from the land of the ice and snow from the midnight sun where the hot springs FLOW How soft your fields, so green can whisper tales of gore, of how we calmed the tides of war We are your overlords
On we sweep with, with threshing oar Our only goal will be the western shore
S-so now you better stop and rebuild all your ruins for peace and trust can winthe day despite of all you're losin' Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh Ahh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
So I never knew this song existed... !! It was on the bootleg series from Dylan... and then on the Legacy Edition of Jeff Buckley's Grace...
How come this song is not on any official release being as good as it is.. ?
this little hidden gem...
Dylan once again is undressing our feelings.. with such plain words and simple pictures.. the soul of a man trapped in the cell of love-sickness..
I really prefer Jeff Buckley's demos than his official recordings.. because it's like when he was playing in Sin-E and nobody knew who he was..
Mama, you been on my mind.
Perhaps it is the color of the sun cut flat An' cov'rin' the crossroads I'm standing at, Or maybe it's the weather or something like that, But mama, you been on my mind.
I mean no trouble, please don't put me down, don’t get upset, I am not pleading or saying that "I can't forget you." I do not pace the floor bowed down and bent, but yet, Mama, you been on my mind.
Even though my eyes are hazy and my thoughts they might be narrow, Where you been don't bother me or bring me down in sorrow. I don't even mind who you'll be waking with tomorrow, But mama, you're just on my mind.
I am not askin' you to say words like "yes" or "no," Please understand me, I have no place I’m callin’ you to go. I'm just whispering to myself so I can't pretend that I don't know, But mama, you're just on my mind.
When you wake up in the mornin' and look inside your mirror, You know I won't be next to you, you know I won't be near. I'd just be curious to know if you can see yourself as clear As someone who has had you on his mind.
Well lately I feel like saying that when they ask me how am I ...
Funny How Time Slips Away (by Willie Nelson)
Well hello there my it's been a long long time How am I doin' oh I guess that I'm doin' fine It's been so long now but it seems now it was only yesterday Gee ain't it funny how time slips away How's your new love I hope that he's doing fine Heard you told him that you'd love him till the end of time Now that's the same thing that you told me seems like just the other day Gee ain't it funny how time slips away I gotta go now I guess I'll see you around Don't know when though never know when I'll be back in town But remember what I tell you that in time you're gonna pay And it's surprising how time slips away
This morning listening to Radio 3 ("hoy empieza todo") they paid a little tribute by playing this song..
While I was getting dressed I was absorbed by his voice.. that feeling he's putting in here..
Don't give up on me
If I fall short If I don't make the grade If you're expectations aren't met in me today There's always tomorrow, or tomorrow night Hang in there, baby Sooner or later I know I'll get it right Please don't give up on me Oh please don't give up on me I know It's late, late in the game But my feelings, my true feelings haven't changed Here in my heart I know, I know I was wrong, wrong, wrong I'd like to make amends for the love that I've never ever, ever, ever shown Just don't give up on me, every word is true I'll give you my everything, all of my love, All of my love, all of my love, love, love to you Just don't give up on me, oh please, please, please don't give up on me I don't want you to I know It's late, but wait please, please, please, please don't give up on me Promise, will you promise me, will you promise me Please don't give up on me We can make it if we try I'm going to hold on, hold on with me And don't give up on me Oh baby don't give up on me Whatever you do we'll make it though Don't you give up on me, Please, please, please promise me, Don't give up on me
..must be the only metal band who is respected by all generations and still make people feel good...
After reading that James Hetfield participated on an auction for Little Kids Rock organization-- I wanted to see which was the item.. and was quite surprised watching the guitar he decorated..
It carries sentences like..
Can't you do anything right.. It's not good enough.. Get outta Here.. Are you really that stupid..
Focusing on the reality of a childhood some people go through...
luckily some of the times this can be reverted through art, music or passion for any discipline...
The rest of the decorated guitars are just esthetically OK.. (Specially the one by Stan Lee)
But this one.. really made me think twice about not pretending bad times are just gone.. I guess one must have them present to never allow them to happen again
Lou Reedwas waiting for his man back in 69 with 26 dollars in his hand up to Lexington 125 ..
So lucky !!! the Pixies announce his man was finally coming in 1989...
Probably, both songs have no connection at all..
but they do have one for me..
"Here Comes Your Man"
outside there's a box car waiting outside the family stew out by the fire breathing outside we wait 'til face turns blue i know the nervous walking i know the dirty beard hangs out by the box car waiting take me away to nowhere plains there is a wait so long here comes your man
big shake on the box car moving big shake to the land that's falling down is a wind makes a palm stop blowing a big, big stone fall and break my crown there is a wait so long you'll never wait so long here comes your man there is a wait so long you'll never wait so long here comes your man
