Antes que acabe la noche ...
Another great band from Barcelona...
Their biography mentions they met in a ship "Santa Maria Mercedes", where Remo was playing for the crowd in the warehouse in the lower floors and Renata was working as a waitress on the upper glamorous restaurant..
On a trip to South America they docked in Sao Paulo... and they start up an argument about who should get down from the ship first..
After that quick meeting they decided to collaborate which lead to the composition of several tunes..
Being the first of them "Vamonos", (Let's go away) .. which we present you below !

Thing like that drive me out of my mind...
This song maybe on my top ten list since the first time I heard it..
The whole transformer album is electric and just looking to the cover is a must to understand Rock history..
inside that masterpiece.. you'll find.. David Bowie, Mick Rock, Herbie Flowers, Mick Ronson, Klaus Voorman, Sid Vicious, Andy Warhol, Ronnie Ross, Henry Mark and John...
You can take a walk on the wild side, attend a makeup session and a terrific phone conversation in NYC... You may also find a perfect day..
You may be hit by a flower, or you may loose your head if you start giving some ...

if you don't mind... I don't mind
I love the Buzzcocks, because when I was living in London with my bro and good mate Charlie, we went looking for bargain records on whatever pawn shops we could find...
One day we bough for just 1 ₤ each The Head on the Door by the Cure and Singles Ready Steady by the Buzzcoks.
In that compilation there are great songs.. like Noise Annoys, Orgasm Addict, What do I get?, Whatever Happened ...
Suddenly this song came on the air.. and couldn't help singing this on top ...

Where the skies are so blue..
We were playing last Friday.. and then some guys from the crowd asked us to play "Sweet Home Alabama".. So we did..
When we were done.. I came to talk with them.. and this girl, asked me which was my all time favorite American Band.. and I said.. "The Doors", she didn't even know who they were.. and asked me why.. Didn't have to think about it.. "well.. the lyrics are clever, the music is incredible, they are sort of the most original and daring band I've ever heard.."
Then she asked me about Bob Dylan.. well.. I said.. "he's not a band.. but he must be the greatest performer and writer of the century and his influence goes beyond music".. Then she said,... "He's English right ? " .. "WHAT ??! " ,, "Dylan English ???.. how can you say that ???"
"He went all the way from Minnesota to New York, to get on the folk circuit and became an icon for singing for civil rights in America ".. Her face was like if I was speaking in Chinese..
.. so bad there was no time to speak about Neil Young..

Do I Deserve to be ? ...
This is the best example of what a Rock Band should be..
But the greatest thing on Pearl Jam were Eddie's originality in lyrics.
Back then I was just, listening to all the stuff inside this songs.. the drums are still something out of the best I've ever heard.. Dave Krusen, left the band just after Ten was released.. and I really believe they never sounded better than this.. at least on a record..
The guitars are just McCready doing Hendrix and Gossard doing Jimmy Page,... really .. listen to it..
And Jeff Ament.. well.. amazing bass player.. Jeremy has one of the best bass lines in rock...
And the guy who was leading them, Eddie Vedder.. in the great tradition of Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, a real guy showing his feelings ...

if you need to find me, just go to the end of the longest line
Love hardcore bands .. from the 80's and 90's ...
When I first heard NOFX.. I couldn't believe it.. man !! they were playing like Metallica with Queen backing vocals.. and not pretending to be bigger-than-life ... real punk rock attitude..
Saw them live when they released Punk in Drublic .... that record was great.. the only problem is that their three previous releases were even better.. Ribbed, White Trash, Two heebs and a bean and the EP The Longest Line, where this song, obviously, is found.
Now they are coming to Barcelona to play next Tuesday and my good mate Luis bought tickets to go..
So I am back again playing air drums while listening to this old stuff..
Check it out..
In the darkest tunnel it's nice to see a light
not just a headlight
like the one that's heading right for me
it would be nice if things could turn out right
turn out right yeah
don't think I'll ever see the day
I must have done something wrong
or maybe pissed off God
I think of Chinese food when I think of life
that's sweet and sour
my life is sweet as saccharine
you know three week old milk and grapes are not
not the same, no
I am the one Johnny Carcinogen
I must have fucked with some witch
in turn she cursed me, cursed my life
at the end of the longest line
that's where I will always be
if you need to find me, just go to
the end of the longest line
But officer that was a yellow light
the light was red, son
insubordination, reckless driving
I must be wrong, this can't be right
I don't belong, this world is much to dangerous
for someone lacking luck, like me
At the end of the longest line
that's where I will always be
if you need to find me, just go to
the end of the longest line
at the end of the longest line
that's where I will always be
at the end of the longest line

Teardrop on the fire, Fearless on my breath
Ok..Which song gives you the goosebumps each and everytime ??
this one works for me
Love love is a verb
Love is a doing word
Fearless on my breath
Gentle impulsion
Shakes me makes me lighter
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath
Night night of matter
Black flowers blossom
Fearless on my breath
Black flowers blossom
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath
Water is my eye
Most faithful mirror
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire of a confession
Fearless on my breath
Most faithful mirror
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath
you're stumbling into
you're stumbling into

beware of the growl of your soul
This video is the first single from Eric Fuentes new project after The Unfinished Sympathy.
I must say, that saw it first hand and though it was good..
A few weeks before I read there was so much controversy about it because of the obvious references to a military terrorist group.
And then all the fuss.. People seem to be so easily triggered by this images or metaphors.. anyway... that was the real attitude for a rock band.. And I'm happy for them to gain this attention.
it's time to borrow your soul
squeeze it up to a new direction
it's time to break up the weight from the shade of your soul
it's time to borrow your soul
approve your sins and approve your madness
it's time to measure the weight of the hate in your blood
the weight of the hate in your blood
it's time to borrow your soul
we take your handbag will give you sadness
beware of yourself
beware of the growl of your soul
run away from the growl of your soul..

I’ll just say fare thee well ...
Well there ain’t no use to sit and wonder why, babe
even you don't know by now
An’ it ain’t no use to sit and wonder why, babe
and I'll never do somehow
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I’ll be gone
You’re the reason I’m trav’lin’ on
Don’t think twice, it’s all right
and it ain’t no use in turnin’ on your light, babe
the light I never knowed
An’ it ain’t no use in turnin’ on your light, babe
I’m on the dark side of the road
But I wish there was somethin’ you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talkin’ anyway
but don’t think twice, it’s all right
So it ain’t no use in callin’ out my name, gal
Like you never done before
and it ain’t no use in callin’ out my name, gal
I can’t hear you anymore
I’m a-thinkin’ and a-wond’rin’ all the way down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I’m told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don’t think twice, it’s all right
so long, honey babe...
Where I’m bound, I can’t tell
goodbye’s too good a word, gal
So I’ll just say fare thee well
I ain’t sayin’ you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don’t mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don’t think twice, it’s all right

ocean trip is good for me...
Ricky Malberg is a musician of the Barcelona scene, involved in several projects
Here is his first release as an independent artist ... which is this fresh and moving "Ocean Trip"
The song has certain flavor of Bow Vow Vow "Fools rush in" with Lou Reed's voice ..
Might also sound like World Music with 50's guitars..
I just love the trumpets which remind me of Herp Albert

ser valiente no es solo cuestion de suerte...
To be brave is not just a question of luck..
So many great bands appeared in Spain in the last years.. Vetusta Morla, as the turtle in the Neverending Story by Michael Ende, is one of them.. maybe the band that had more exposure to media..
somehow I didn't listened to them properly until just yesterday night while drawing on my desk this song came on a playlist I made of Spanish bands..
this sentence caught my attention..
and then the whole song...
then the album..
Wow... Then I found this video, and the sound is just perfect.. you can see they are quite emoted by listening the crowd singing the lyrics... dream come true ?? probably...

Once I lived the life of a millionaire ...
Clapton is a discussed guitar player... people loves him and people hates him..
I was never into him until the evidence got me closer to listen ..
1st - When I read he was the one who put a Gibson Les Paul through a Marshall and recorded an album.. Check the Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, just listen to Hideaway.. that was the guitar sound used for the next 10 years.. and it was recorded in 1966..
2nd - When he left the Yardbirds because they wanted to play pop music..
3rd -When he recorded the solo for "While my guitar gently weeps"..
4th - When he wrote "Layla" cause he was in love with Patty Boyd and couldn't do anything 'cause she was his best friend's wife.. George Harrison..
the list keeps on growing...
The last time random took me to him was when I went to Sin-e in Dublin last summer and there was this guy playing songs... he had a great voice and was a good player... He sang "Nobody knows you when you are down and out" .. I had never heard it before.. (don't know how could I..) when I went back home in Barcelona I looked for it and saw that the cover was coming from Clapton's version in "Layla and other assorted Love songs"..
With the collaboration of the great late Duane Allman..
The original from Jimmy Cox and the first know version by Bessie Smith.
Love him or hate him... now listen here and look in the eyes and try saying "he's not that good"

Nobody helps a liar ...
Having a conversation yesterday about new American folk female singers.. I couldn't help remembering Jenny Lewis..
There are so many great songs in this record.. which I heard a hundred times..
There is something in the way she rises her voice on the chorus and how the backing vocals sing along with her that gets me goosebumps.
One of the play list I listen a lot is the one she did for Rolling Stone Mag...
Great selection of early 70's folk singers.

... but she breaks just like a little girl
Dylan's ode to all women in the world.
The song one can obviously link to who we are in love with..
To a girl who surprises us with her smile in the nighttime singing love songs to our ears while we hold hands...
A girl who makes drawings of women going to the beach and brings Japanese soup to dinner..

party party party !!
This is another song from the Seihos
The video is great, an homage to Cake's "Short Skirt Long Jacket"..
The best of it is that shows how is life daily in Barcelona, the tourists, the people chilling in any square or by the shadow of a cathedral..
Is a great city to live in..
Some people say the song is good, some say they don't like it at all.. but overall is such a laugh. you see people is great, different and similar everywhere ..
Best comment
"You can win a lot of money with publicity with this song.."

Spanish bombs.. yo te quiero infinito.. !!
The Clash payed a great homage to the victims of the terrible Spanish Civil War...
and The Clash were not a demagogic band ..
Joe Strummer was trying to bring into attention some injustices of the past and the present..
They were the only ones who ever talked about this terrible episode..
The lyrics remember Federico Garcia Lorca, the late poet shot and killed by Nationalist militia on 19 August 1936.
World War II would began shortly after...
George Orwell who participated in the war as a volunteer would write "Homage to Catalonia" which is another book I yet have to read...

Paco de Lucia - Percusion Flamenca
"Unos me dicen que si y otros que no... y yo le he preguntado a grandes musicos si debo aprender musica.. y me han dicho que no.. no es necesario"Sure it's not necessary to learn music if you are such gifted and incredibly talented musician... otherwise..
"Some say yes and some say no, ... and I have asked great musicians if I should learn music .. they have said, no .. it is not necessary"

losing love is like a window in your heart...
Everybody sees you're blown apart,Starting 2011 with a guitar in my hands.. singing Graceland..
Everybody sees the wind blow,
Lots of meanings in this song.. love the way Paul Simon talks about his personal daemons with such tranquility..
The music in this record is among the greatest recorded in the 80's...
The South African musicians he worked with are simply superb...
Giving credit to them..
Ray Phiri on guitar
Bakithi Kumalo on bass
Vusi Khumalo on drums
Makhaya Mahlangu on percussion
.. and Simon's own childhood heroes ... the Everly Brothers providing backing vocals...
Going to Graceland is a metaphor .. a metaphor for the old belief that maybe taking one chance will suddenly give some sort of reason to life..
The Mississippi delta was shining like a national guitar
I am following the river down the highway through the cradle of the civil war
I'm going to Graceland, Graceland
Memphis, Tennessee
I'm going to Graceland
poor boys and pilgrims and families
we are all going to Graceland..
My traveling companion is nine years old
He's the child of my first marriage
But I got a reason to believe we all will be received in Graceland
She comes back to tell me she's gone
As If I didn't know that
As If I didn't know my own bed..
As If I never notice the way she brush her head from her forehead,.
She said losing love is like a window in your heart
Everybody sees your blown apart
Everybody sees the wind blow..
I'm going to Graceland
Memphis, Tennessee
I'm going to Graceland
Poor boys and pilgrims and families
we all are going to Graceland..
My traveling companions
are ghosts and empty sockets..
I am looking at ghosts and empties
But I got a reason to believe we all will be received in Graceland
There's a girl in New York City
She calls herself the human trampoline
sometimes when I am falling flying, tumbling in turmoil
I say wow so this is what she means
She means we are bouncing into Graceland
And I see losing love is like a window in your heart
Everybody sees your blown apart
Everybody feels the wind blow..
in Graceland, in Graceland..
For reasons I cannot explain there's some a part of me that want s see Graceland.
And I maybe am blind to defend every love every ending or maybe there's no obligations now..
Maybe I have a reason to believe we all will be received in Graceland..
In Graceland.. In Graceland..
